What is Corfix Scheduling, and how does it compare to Assignar?

Two schedulers built around two different kinds of work.

Corfix Scheduling is a crew scheduler built on a construction safety platform; Assignar is a scheduler built into a field operations and billing platform for contractors who fulfill orders for clients. In Corfix, every active project carries a colour-coded readiness status, the Worker and Asset Bench holds your roster and equipment beside the schedule, and Overview Mode gives you the week for every project on one grid. Set the certifications a project requires and Corfix warns you at the moment you schedule someone who is missing one or whose certification has expired. Underneath it is a safety platform: certification records with expiry, digital forms, incident and hazard reporting, corrective actions, site binders reachable by QR code, and a direct AuditSoft connection for COR audits.

Assignar is a field operations platform founded in Australia in 2014 and now headquartered in Denver. Its published industries are crane and rigging, heavy civil, excavation, traffic, demolition, concrete, asphalt and paving, rail, infrastructure and scaffolding, and its Series B lead investor described the target market as heavy civil and horizontal construction. Its scheduler is mature and in several respects ahead of ours, and it is built to answer where each resource is committed rather than whether each project is covered.

Why is Assignar built around client orders and Corfix around your own projects?

An order you fulfil, or a project you staff.

Assignar is built for a business that hires crews and machines out to somebody else and bills for them; Corfix is built for a business staffing its own projects and answering for their safety. Assignar’s object model shows it. Work is raised as an order for a client, filled with roles, and closed with a docket the client signs. Pay rates, job costing and a schedule of rates for time and materials billing sit alongside scheduling in the product menu. If you supply labour and plant, everything in that list earns its place.

A contractor staffing its own projects doesn’t raise orders for clients or docket for sign-off. The work is a project that runs for weeks or months, the recurring question is whether every project is crewed and whether the crew is cleared for the site, and the record that answers the second question is a safety program rather than a rate schedule. That’s what Corfix is built around, and it’s the difference that survives whatever either product ships next.

What does Corfix do that Assignar doesn’t?

The schedule reads from a full safety program.

Corfix schedules from a safety program; Assignar schedules from a register of skills, competencies and inductions. Both platforms check a worker before you put them on site. When an Assignar scheduler fills a shift, workers are grouped into Recommended and Other based on whether they hold the current competencies the role, the client and the project require, and on whether they are free. A missing induction shows as a warning triangle beside the name. That’s real and it works. What sits behind it is a register built to answer whether this person is qualified and inducted for this task.

Corfix answers a wider question, because the same platform holds your incidents, hazards, corrective actions, toolbox talks and form history. When a general contractor asks how you manage safety, or an insurer asks during renewal, or an assessor asks during a COR audit, the evidence is already assembled. AuditSoft connects directly, so an auditor searches and attaches your Corfix documents inside the audit rather than waiting on an export.

Where is Assignar stronger than Corfix?

On scheduling features, they’ve had a decade of head start.

Assignar is stronger on scheduling depth and on everything tied to billing. Their scheduler does things ours doesn’t: a Timeline view running from one week out to six months, search across project, client, order and address, filters for status and worker allocations, a Recommended list sorted by availability, compliance and distance from the worker’s home to the job, and text messaging to workers and groups straight from the platform.

They’re also stronger anywhere money meets the schedule. Pay rates, job costing, schedule of rates for time and materials, and progress tracking are all products in their own right. Their accounting and ERP connections take in Sage Intacct, Sage 100 and 300, Viewpoint Vista and Spectrum, Foundation, Acumatica, QuickBooks, Xero and MYOB. If your business bills labour and plant by the hour against a rate schedule, none of that is optional and Corfix doesn’t compete for it.

Should you choose Corfix or Assignar?

It depends on whose projects you’re staffing.

Choose Assignar if you hire out crews and machines, bill from dockets and rate schedules, and run plant-heavy civil or infrastructure work. It is built for that and Corfix isn’t a substitute for it.

Choose Corfix if you’re staffing your own projects and the thing that has to hold up is your safety program rather than your utilisation rate. You get a scheduler with fewer features than theirs, sitting on a compliance platform they don’t have.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Assignar have a better scheduler than Corfix? In several areas, maybe. Timeline views out to six months, distance-based recommendations, texting from the scheduler and utilisation reporting are things they do and we don’t. What Corfix has behind its schedule is a safety program: incidents, hazards, corrective actions and audit evidence in the same platform the schedule reads from.

Does Assignar integrate with AuditSoft? AuditSoft is not among Assignar’s listed integrations. Corfix connects to AuditSoft directly, so an auditor can search and attach Corfix documents inside a COR audit.

Does Assignar check certifications when scheduling? Yes. When a shift is filled, Assignar groups workers into Recommended and Other based on whether they hold the current competencies the role, client and project require. Corfix takes a different approach: the requirement sits on the project, and scheduling a worker who is missing or has an expired certification produces a warning on that worker at that moment.

Does Corfix warn you when a worker isn’t certified for a site? Yes. Set the certifications a project requires, and Corfix warns you at the moment you schedule a worker who is missing one or whose certification has expired. Expired counts the same as missing. It checks against the certification records already in Corfix, so there is nothing separate to keep in sync.

Does Corfix warn you about double-bookings? Yes. Drag a worker onto a day they’re already booked and Corfix warns you right then, with a choice to confirm or cancel. Any day still holding an unresolved conflict carries an indicator so it doesn’t get lost.
